“It takes 20 percent of my energy to walk into a meeting room where I’m the only woman, the only black person. Therefore, I want to make it easier for everyone who looks and feels different to get involved” – Yvonne Bettkober

Yvonne’s leadership focus: Empathy – When employees have the feeling that their voice is not being heard, they mentally check out. Commit to diversity and inclusion and allow all who feel, believe, and love differently to get involved. If we don’t, it costs.

“I’m the only one in almost every room who looks like this. I’m the red penguin in a colony. I want to spare the staff that”

Yvonne’s advice for women: Women must stop their inner monologues as it affects persuasiveness. “First, let the men decide who the silverback gorilla is. You have to give them this time. Then, when the conversation becomes constructive, stand up and make your point”

Yvonne on motherhood: “When my children come home, and I haven’t managed to cook red beans, I’m at odds with myself. At some point, I stopped trying to be superwoman. I gave up perfection. I didn’t even try to constantly create an elaborate and super-ecological menu on the table”

Yvonne on innovation: “Everyone can become familiar with new things, and learning is not something to be ashamed of”

Yvonne’s view on African talent: “Africa is often underestimated. The continent introduces new technologies much faster than Switzerland. Mobile payment and blockchain have long been widespread in Africa.”
